My best friend's brother, who was like a brother to me. Jim died Wednesday night in a train accident. He was weird and we fought like siblings, but he was also cool and a gift to the world. I'd give anything to fight with him about orange juice and swap head shaving tips just one more time.

The man who taught me braille as an adult and rekindled my love of reading. Jerry Whittle passed away last night. He was a good, funny, kind man who had the biggest passion for reading and teaching literacy that I've ever seen.
