Alabama carries out third U.S. execution this week

And another one...we'd better slowdown. At this rate the Euros are going to think we're barbarians or something.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala (Reuters) - A man convicted of the 1994 execution-style shooting of a store clerk in Alabama was put to death on Thursday by lethal injection in the third U.S. execution carried out this week.

Derrick O'Neal Mason, 37, was pronounced dead at 6:49 p.m. local time at Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Department of Corrections spokesman Grantt Culliver said. Mason had spent 16 years on death row.

I was watching the local news tonight (only about the first 10 minutes) and it wasn't even mentioned. I would hope they reported it at some point in the last 20 minutes. :dunno:

how it should be. if theyre convicted, dont let em sit in a cell for years. get right to it. his took too long to carry out, as most do

I hear ya...I don't know...I'd love to see a breakdown of the costs, average costs, of keeping someone locked up for life, honestly for life, until they fucking die in prison, versus how much it costs, when all is said and done, of actually killing them. I've always thought that keeping some fucktard locked up forever is a more gruesome punishment.

Although I support the death penalty in some cases, I could never support that. Recently, a man was released when he was proven innocent after spending 18 years in prison, much of which was on death row. I've read too much about misconduct/conspiracy among police, prosecutors, forensic departments, that immediate executions are not justifiable. What really irks me is that in most cases of misconduct/conspiracy, the offending party(s) is never disciplined in any way. If I had my way, individuals guilty of such misconduct/conspiracy should be forced to serve the sentence of the person they tried to railroad into prison and/or a death sentence.

If you kill them right away, they'll never be proven innocent and your conscience will be clean!

When a ghetto trash gang member is proven guilty of murder, use the death penalty.

Oh, that's a thought.

But to make sure we read you CLEAR, requisite qualifications for this exclusive club are the must first be a 'ghetto trash gang member' or their applications will be revoked no matter how otherwise qualified they are?

Hey it's an economic crisis and dosages of lethal injections are at a premium.
